Hey crafters I can’t believe we are in August already. Where did July go?

Today’s card was born out of a challenge from a member of my team to ink up a stamp that I haven’t used before. Challenge accepted or Game On!

Stampin’ Up!’s Game On stamp set was the perfect choice. This is a new set to the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue and is perfect for male cards. It was definitely one to add to my collection.

Here’s a look at the finished card.

I wanted to create the black and white look of a chess board but instead of squares I used the Tailored Tag punch to make hexagon shapes. You can watch how I did that in the video below.

I used Sahara Sand cardstock for the layer and stamped the background using Sahara Sand ink. The hexagon shapes have been embossed with the Tasteful Textures 3D embossing folder and adhered using Tombow. I’ve wrapped some linen thread around that layer before adhering it to a Basic Black card base.

The chess pieces were stamped in Memento and fussy cut before being adhered with dimensionals.

I used one of the sentiments from the set and embossed it in white on black cardstock, fussy cut to get the two pieces and adhered with dimensionals.

Here’s a close up of the feature pieces so you can see some of the texture in more detail.

The inside of the card features another cool stamp from the set, the dice. It’s been stamped in the corner with Memento and then masked off before stamping the checkerboard background over the top in Sahara Sad.

I searched my collection for a suitable ‘birthday” stamp and found a perfect pairing in the Itty Bitty Birthdays set.

If you struggle with male cards and haven’t already added the Game On stamp set to your collection I encourage you to grab it. You won’t regret it.

Happy Stamping
