Well I seem to have been missing in action on here again.  It’s not that I haven’t been doing anything, quite the opposite in fact.  I have been flat out lately especially with school hols.  But I did get a chance to do a bit of stamping while the kids were otherwise occupied with friends or whatnot.

These are two of the cards the girls made at my Technique class a couple of weeks ago.  The theme was vintage so we did lots of distressing, sponging, tearing, sanding and spritzing as well lots of talking and laughing.  We used the beautiful Nature Walk stamp set from the current Autumn/Winter mini catalogue which I think works perfectly for vintage cards.  It’s such a gorgeous set I hope it makes it into the new catalogue in September.

Suede effect flower embellishment

Nature Walk flowersTo create the suede effect of the flower embellishment I first punched out a scallop circle from bravo burgundy cardstock and then worked it with my bone folder until the paper began to separate.  Stampin’ Up!  When you pull the layers apart you expose the inside which had the lovely soft suede effect.  Stampoin’ Up! cardstock is perfect for this technique because it’s a solid colour core.

The second card features the bird and birdcage from the set.  I think these two stamps work really well together.  If you look closely you can see the tulip frame embossing around the patterned paper at the top of the card.  The embossing has been lightly sanded with a sanding block to distress it a little and show the white core of the paper.

Happy stamping!
